How it works
How browser-based HEIC conversion works
heictoimg uses WebAssembly in your browser to convert HEIC photos locally, so the image files you choose are not uploaded to heictoimg.com servers for conversion.
1. Choose JPG, PNG, or WebP
Start by selecting the output format. JPG is usually best for broad photo upload compatibility. PNG is useful for lossless output, screenshots, or images where sharp edges matter. WebP is useful for smaller modern web images when the destination accepts it.
2. Add your HEIC files
Drag files onto the converter or use the file picker. On phones and tablets, your browser may let you choose from Photos, Files, Camera, or other available sources. The current batch limit is up to 50 files at once on desktop, or up to 10 on phones and tablets.
3. Conversion runs locally
The browser reads the selected HEIC files and passes them to a WebAssembly-powered converter running on your device. The page uses workers so conversion can happen without blocking the interface.
The original image files and converted output are not sent to heictoimg.com servers. They stay inside your browser session until you save the result or clear the selected files.
4. Save the converted files
After conversion, use Save for an individual file or Save All for completed files. If a file fails, check whether it is a valid HEIC image and try a smaller batch or a different browser.
